City Parklands CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS

Explore some of the great parks that circle inner Melbourne, one of the "jewels" that make Melbourne one of the world's most liveable cities.
GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Easy 11.5 km point-to-point walk. 
MEETING TIME | LOCATION: 10:30am at the Royal Park Station.  
MAP REFERENCE: Melway Map 29 grid E11 | Google map goo.gl/maps/124bomFMRnx.  
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Take the Upfield line train to Royal Park Station or tram #58 to stop 27 (Royal Park Station).
FOOD: Preference is to also BYO lunch to save time but snacks and drinks can be obtained from the many shops and cafes along the route. BYO plenty of water or a container that can be refilled from public drinking fountains.
APPAREL | FOOTWEAR: Wear a hat and clothing to meet the forecast weather conditions, and footwear suitable for walking on sealed suburban footpaths and some gravel paths. BYO sunscreen plus towel and togs for the optional swim.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: The great parks that circle inner Melbourne are one of the "jewels" that makes it one of the world’s liveable cities, and provide for a cool refuge on a hot summer’s day. This walk tracks through Royal Park, Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens, Yarra Park, Royal Botanical Gardens and into Albert Park. Along the way attention will be given to the many historic and noteworthy buildings and features of inner Melbourne. With suitable weather there will be an extension to Middle Park Beach for a swim to conclude the day's activities. The route crosses many tram routes so there are opportunities to depart earlier if required (after advising the event leader).
