Exploring Historic Williamstown
Williamstown Railway Station
10:30 – 16:00
There are not many places like Williamstown - certainly not in greater Melbourne. The streets of Williamstown were amongst the first laid down by Europeans in Victoria in 1837. Up until then the narrow peninsula of Williamstown had been known to the local people as Koort-Boork-Boork, or "patch of she-oak trees." GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Moderate 11.5 km circuit walk. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: The day will see the group enjoy the seaside village atmosphere of Williamstown via three interlocking walks. This will be a stop-start walk as the Leader provides background notes on identified heritage sites. Lunch will be taken in one of the many "green" sites passed during the walk.  BOOKING: By Thursday 27th June. To register click on Get Tickets. Unsure if you've already booked? Click View my bookings. FURTHER INFORMATION: Online references include Williamstown Overview ,Williamstown Historic Society MEETING TIME | LOCATION: 10:30 am in the car park of the Williamstown Railway Station, Ann Street Williamstown 3016.  MAP REFERENCE: Melway map 56 grid E11 | Google maps maps.app.goo.gl/bZhurQ81cv33VJMY8  DISTANCE | TIME FROM GPO: 14.5 km, approximately 35 minutes via Westgate Bridge from the Central Business District.
